Itinerary

6N/7D Punjab Tour Package Itinerary

Day 1 :

Delhi – Bhatinda

The Punjab trip begins from Delhi. You’ll be transferred to Bathinda, one of the oldest cities of Punjab. It is said to derive its name from the Bhati Rajputs who ruled over this region. The schooner-shaped Bathinda Fort, on the heart of the Bhatinda, was founded on the early Christian era. After check-in at your hotel, get ready to visit the 17th CE Bhagawati Mandir, Qila Mubarak, the fort at Bathinda that is possibly the oldest in Punjab & Sri Damdama Sahib. Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib was developed as a centre of Sikh learning by Guru Gobind Singh. It is one of the five Sikh Takhats.

Day 2 :

Bhatinda – Firozpur

Drive to Firozpur, the 14th CE. city of Ferozeshah Tughluq. It is situated close to India-Pakistan border. Visit the Anglo-Sikh War Memorial at Ferozeshah, dedicated to the two wars that the Sikh Empire fought against the British East India Company following the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

There are many significant spots in Firozpur like the 19th CE. Swetamber Jain Temple in Zira which is dedicated to the 23rd Jain Tirthankara and draws devotees of many faiths. Since 1970 there has been a Retreat Ceremony at the border crossing every day at 6 pm, similar to the Wagah border ceremony.

Day 3 :

Firozpur – Amritsar

After breakfast, get transferred to Amritsar. The city of Amritsar is inextricably linked with the history of Sikhism. Amritsar is the most revered site in Sikhism. Its name is derived from Amrit Sarovar (pool of nectar) amidst which stands Sri Harmandir Sahib or famously called ‘Golden Temple’.

Day 4 :

Amritsar

Take a heritage walk in Amritsar. A two-hour tour conducted twice-daily showcases some of the richest architectural and traditional heritage sites from Amritsar’s layered past. The walk includes numerous katras, akharas, bungas, havelis & hattis with traditional town planning. The walk promises to take you back in time to witness traditional trades and crafts being practiced here with the same manner, as it was practiced centuries ago.

To participate in these tours, simply reach the take-off point at pre-designated times and get your ticket from a licensed guide on the spot. The border with Pakistan is at Attari on the Grand Trunk Road which goes towards Lahore. It is one of the main access points to visit neighbouring nation.

Day 5 :

Amritsar – Jalandhar

Drive to Jalandhar district, located in the irrigated plains between the Beas and Sutlej. The city was named after a demon king mentioned on Puranas and Mahabharata.

Sightseeing consists,

  • Dakhni Sarai, built during 17th CE. by Mughal nobleman Ali Mardan Khan. The large quadrangular setting typifies rest houses of that times with a well, rooms for travelers with geometric gardens.
  • The Mughal Bridge on the east of the Dakhni Sarai, in Mallian Kalan village is one of the few remaining Mughal-era bridges.
  • Phillaur Fort, a serai (inn) built during Shah Jahan’s reign on the Grand Trunk Road. However, the Phillaur fort was substantially reconstructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, that served as the easternmost outpost of his empire. Designed by the Maharaja’s Italian and French generals, the fort’s architecture has a distinct European character.

Day 6 :

Jalandhar – Ludhiana – Patiala

Drive to Patiala. On the way, visit Rural Museum in Ludhiana, A facade of a traditional haveli welcomes you to the Rural Museum located in the Punjab Agricultural University. Founded by Dr M S Randhawa, the celebrated civil servant. The museum displays a large number of household implements, traditional musical instruments.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum – The War Museum is a tribute to the gallant soldiers of Punjab, located about 5 km from Ludhiana Railway Station on Grand Trunk Road, Ludhiana – Amritsar Highway (NH-1).

Continue drive towards Patiala. The history of Patiala is entwined with the lives of flamboyant rulers. Patiala was a part of Sirhind during Delhi Sultanate and the Mughals period. Visit Qila Mubarak, a 18th century fort that was built by Baba Ala Singh who established an independent Sikh principality at Patiala.

Visit the 17th century Bahadurgarh Fort of Patiala, built by Nawab Saif Khan during the reign of Aurangzeb and was reportedly called Saifabad. Take a guided walk for an enriching glimpse into Patiala’s glorious past as well as its colourful present. Acquaint yourself with some historical sites as you wind your way from the Shahi Samadhi to the Qila Mubarak.

Day 7 :

Patiala – Delhi

Drive to Delhi for departure.
