The sanctuary being the home to hoolock baboon, a rare gibbon living in India, along with wild Elephant, Sambhar, Tiger, Flying Squirrel, Sloth Bears & Wild Dogs.
The heavy rainfall causes immense growth of vegetation, hence hundreds of species of orchids, white and red rhododendron can be witnessed here.

Kohima : Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, is surrounded with beautiful hills. The Kohima war cemetery and the state museum, beyond natural view and wonderful peaks, remains two of the most visited attraction.
Dzukou valley : Carpet of wild flowers spread throughout the Dzukou valley and many of its peaks with natural caves that are quite inviting for adventure enthusiasts like avid trekkers.
Japfu Peak : 15 km south of Nagaland, Japfu peak is the second highest peak of Nagaland. Famous for its natural beauty, the peak gives trekkers the best possible trekking terrain to cherish. Exploring this snow capped peaks gives a great joy.
Intaki Wildlife Sanctuary : Discovering the untouched jungle of Intaki wildlife sanctuary and wild inhabitants like Elephant, Sambhar, Flying Squirrel, Tiger, Mithun, Barking Deer, Wild Dog, Sloth Bear are wildlife wonders. Besides, the park has Hoolock Baboon, the only Gibbon in India.
Nagas
As the state of Nagaland is inhabited by 16 Naga tribes and four non-Naga tribes living mostly in rural terrain, each of the tribe has its own festival. How to explore Nagaland
By Air : Dimapur is the only airport, 74 km from Kohima, which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours drive. Dimapur is connected to major airports, where international as well as domestic tourists can catch flight for Dimapur. From Dimapur, one can either hire taxi or can take bus to reach Kohima.
By Rail : Dimapur, is well connected through North Eastern Frontier Railway. From Dimapur, tourists can easily reach Kohima in 3 to 4 hours drive.
By Road : By taking national highway 39 from Dimapur, tourists can reach Kohima. One can easily hire a taxi or shared vehicle for onward trip.
