Overview
A city encircled in pine trees, deriving its name from Lei Shyllong, an idol at Shillong Peak at an elevation of 1496 m. Shillong is a year round destination. The light drizzles & the cooling gentle wind adds joy of visiting the ‘Scotland of the East’. One can find Khyrim, Mylliem, Maharam, Mallaisohmat, Bhowal and Langrim.
Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is the home to waterfalls, mountain peaks, crystal clear lakes, golf courses and museums. A destination in limelight for its jovial people, their westernized culture and music events and festivals.
Day 1 :
Guwahati – Shillong
We will pick you at Guwahati for Shillong. On your way explore Umiam Lake. Spend your time at Shillong Golf Course, Wards Lake, Lady Hydari Park, Cathedral of Mary & Don Bosco Museum.
Day 2 :
Cherrapunjee
After early breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee which is 60 km from Shillong, watch the Nohkalikai waterfall, Mawsmai cave, Elephanta falls & Shillong peak.
Day 3 :
Jowai
Start excursion in Jowai, which falls at the Shillong-Silchar highway at a distance of 5 Hours. A town circled with majestic Myntdu River, Jowai remained under Jaintia Kings from Sutnga State. Explore Krang Suri & Tryshi Waterfalls. A breathtaking view of the Pynthor Nein is visible from the bridge.
Next point will be Thadlaskein Lake, a great lake for boating. Explore the Nartiang monoliths (27 ft in height, 6 ft in breadth & 2 ft 6 inches in thickness), the monoliths have megalithic culture of Hynniewtrep people & a 500 Year old Durga temple is at Nartiang for exploration.
Day 4 :
Mawlynnong
“Asia’s Cleanest Village”. Mawlynnong offers many interesting sights such as man-made root bridges. Dawki, is at a border area, the spot offers amazing view to clear Umangot River.
Day 5 :
Shillong – Guwahati
After breakfast, check out & drive towards Guwahati Airport for your onward adventure.
