Western Assam: Hajo

Hajos’ bell-metal work and artefacts by local craftsmen is renowned. Hajo was a melting point of the Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu. A known spot for some of the oldest religious buildings in Hajo, such as Hayagrib Madhab Temple and a revered spot, known as Poa Mecca. September – February is a time for exploring Hajo.

Bhalukpong

Bhalukpong is a spot for angling with picturesque locations for picnics. October – March remains a great time for visiting Bhalukpong. The Rangapara Railway Station & Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport are closest gateways.

Sivasagar

About 363 km away from Guwahati, Sivasagar holds great interest among historians. The temple is situated adjacent to the site of Charaideo which remained an ancient capital for Ahom kings. Shivadol is the focal point of the Shivratri Puja, whereas devotees worship in Devidol or Vishnudol. Explore the tanks built by Ahoms – Joysagar, Rudrasagar and Gaurisagar. From October, till the end of March, is the best time for exploring Assam.
