Shiva Temple : Tali Shiva of Kozhikode
Inside Kozhikode of Kerala, under the Trusteeship of the Zamorin of Calicut, a revered temple dedicated to Tali Shiva is worshipped from 12th CE. It is considered among the oldest and sacred temples of Kerala, built by Swamy Thirumulapad, a Zamorin King, within his palace complex. Famous for Kerala style architecture, features woodwork, mixed with wall decorated paintings and wooden roof carvings attracting masses of Kozhikode.
The intricate brass-relief and fascinating designs at the walls of the sanctum are details which everyone loves.
For many people this temple has brought prosperity in Kozhikode. Here, people believe that Parshuram himself laid an idol inside the temple complex. Lord Ayappa remains a striking feature at this complex. A stupendous architecture with unique meticulous designing makes a unique piece of structure. Sanctorum built in shape of chariot and details of murals painted all over the walls shows mythical creatures from Hindu epics.
Tali Shiva Temple hosts Revathi Pattathanam, an annual seminar, which takes place every year during October – November. A large number of scholars from across the world witness this event and participate in discussion and insightful debates.
