Nagaland, a land of fascinating hospitable tribes, the land of festivals where tribes celebrate with zest. Occasions are all auspicious and participation seems compulsory, or a choice. Named after Hornbill bird, hills of Kohima hosts this festival showcasing a time of extravaganza, where each tribe across Nagaland joins for a celebration. Tribal ceremonies, sports, ethnic crafts can be seen. Hornbill Festival happens every year on the first week of December From 1st – 10th December. Nagaland showcases a much diversity with glorious past & promising future.

The celebrations comprise Naga Morungs for Exhibition, archery, Naga wrestling, flower shows, Herbal Medicine, fashion shows, paintings, sculptures, wood carvings and a musical concert. Contemporary artists show their creations. The Hornbill National Rock Concert after sundown brings in a festive flavor. Rock Bands from within the country or across international boundaries present their performances.to compete in the concert. Crowds can be seen from everywhere.

Nagaland and Assam Vacation

Day 1 :

Kohima – Sightseeing while heading to the first destination

You will be getting down at Dimapur airport where our representative will be there to welcome you. Get together with them, all transits will be arranged accordingly by M/s Vajra Travel in time. It is advised to keep your camera charged to capture all breathtaking views of the surrounding. As soon as you arrive at Kohima, complete your check-in formalities.

Head at your first attraction at Kohima War Centenary, have a look at the War Memorial, spend some time there.

Day 2 :

Kisema – Grooving on the festival beats

After breakfast, leave for Kisema with representative. On Kisema, you can witness all traditions & preparations by Nagas. Watch all the customs followed under Hornbill festival. Become part of the festival, enjoy music & customs. You can record the performances of the tribe.

Relish all local cuisines at Kisema. Enjoy meals and people who make it. Spend your days here with the people in Nagaland.

Day 3 :

Kohima – Taking a trip to Khonoma

After breakfast, our representative arranges transit to Kisema. Lunch is at the village. Once all of this is done, head to Khonoma for witnessing skills of warfare.

Khonoma is a place for rejuvenation. If you wish, all sorts of craftsmanship of bamboo and cane are for you. Take exciting pictures, get souvenirs from the village. You will then return to Kohima.

Day 4 :

Kaziranga – Road trip

Have a meal and head to Kaziranga. Complete your check-out formalities and meet our representative who will look after your transit. Kaziranga is home to a diverse range of fauna and flora. This place also has lots of migratory birds in winter.

Upon arrival, check in a vacation lodge or at a resort. Rest for the day and walk in the vicinity.

Day 5 :

Kaziranga

Elephant safari at the national park in the morning at 5:30 – 6:30 so plan it carefully. While taking this safari you can have sightings of one-horned rhino, wild elephants & buffalo. Enjoy your elephant safari, then head back for breakfast.

Explore orchid sanctuary, viewpoints & tea gardens. After meal is at the hotel, after which you can hop on the second safari. It will be a jeep safari this time. After an enticing day full of enjoyment, return back back to the hotel and have your dinner.

Day 6 :

Guwahati – Heading to the last destination

Wake up early, reach to the next destination at Guwahati. You have to complete all check-in formalities. As soon as you freshen up, you will be taken to Kamakhya Temple. After you have offered prayers, head for cruising at the Brahmaputra.

Day 7 :

Guwahati – Trip ends

Post breakfast, complete your check-out formalities. You will then be assisted to Guwahati Airport for your onward transit.
