Dibrugarh, a town situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra in Upper Assam is known as the Tea town of Assam. Activities on a Tea Plantation

  • Assam being a biodiversity rich spot and many parts of the region being under Important Bird Area, offers Tea plantations which are century old heritage Tea Estates, provides shade to the Tea bushes & shelter to many birds.
  • Visitors can visit any of the tea garden and see the tea processing in a tea factory. People can see how the tea leaves from the gardens, which are technically made into special Assam tea known for its aroma and flavour.
  • Just like wine tasting, tea tasting reveals the quality of a particular tea. Different types of teas like Orthodox, CTC, Green tea etc. are processed from the same plant. These types are further graded according to their quality.
  • Local/ Folk dances like Jhumur of the tea tribes, Bihu of Assam etc. are cultural aspects of these estates.
  • There are many well maintained bungalows in these places.
