Jampui Hills

Let the rains not dwindle your plans, taking this notion in mind, an unexplored location within Tripura, the Jampui Hills falls at the northern Tripura which borders Mizoram. Tripura is a least explored tourist destinations of India. The erstwhile royal state of Tripura, is an amalgamation of scenic landscape with pleasant environment throughout the year.

Jampui Hills is a mesmerizing destination covered with vast tea plantations, orchards, and captivating beauty. Jampui remains a monsoon gateway in eastern India, it receives scant rainfall, making it a vibrant vacation spot.

Lushai and Mizos inhabit these lands, a trip to Jampui Hills helps you soak the tribal way of life. The hills have it all – from scenic viewpoints to treks. You will have an urge to pack your bags and head to this picturesque hill station for a monsoon vacation.

Unakoti

An “open air art gallery”, a spot surrounded with boulders which are cut in shapes of various gods and goddesses. Historians believe that these intricate carved huge boulders date back to the 11th -12th century AD. Unakoti means one short of a crore and as the legend goes, it is believed that best sculptors of the area were given a task of completing one crore figures of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesh and goddess Parvati before dawn, but they could not finish all the images on time.

  • Must see: The central figure of Unakoti is a 30-feet high rock which is a carved figure of Kal Bhairaav

Beitlingchhip Peak

Those who love hiking should head for Betlingchhip, Tripura’s highest peak and stands at 3,600 ft. A recently erected watch tower offers magnificent views of hill ranges in Bangladesh. Betlingchhip peak is a well-known bird watching destination.
