Bajali – Assam

During autumn, on the bank of Pahumara river in Bajali, thousands assemble for a traditional Assamese boat race at a spot called Medhikuchi. Many audiences from around the region witness a rare competition on the eve of Dashami. Six hundred meters is fixed for this competition as a distance for finishing line.

The race begins from a specific region in Pahumara river at No 2 Medhikuchi, about five kms of Pathsala, which is known as ‘Member Ghat.’

With kohuwa on both sides of the river during autumn, the cheering crowd provide an ultimate dimension on this competition. The rowers with colourful attire sing songs while rowing their boats with ore.
