Kasaragod is a preserved site in Kerala. Bekal Fort is like a giant keyhole, which was built in the 17th CE. offering a nice view of nearby sea from observation towers, which were occupied via gigantic cannons. Near Bekal, a Mosque was intially built via Tipu Sultan. After Kadampa Dynasty, it changed hands over years to Kolathiris, Vijayanagara Empire, Tipu Sultan and then British East India Company.

Around Kasaragod in Kerala lies the massive fort, known as Bekal, impeccably maintained throughout the years. At 130 feet and is situated on a headland of 35km, effort has been put into developing a nice beach here called the Bekal Fort Beach. Explorers flock to these spots. It is situated comfortably on steep hills, the fort provides view to the beach. It was built using laterite slabs and with a polygonal shape, it is amongst a great site.

There are factors that added to the popularity of the site. An observation tower fitted with peepholes, the Anjaneya Temple two Theyyam sculptures are among the main attractions. A mosque built by Tipu Sultan and underground passageways are also a place to explore. A rock garden was built in the parking area and is a great place to explore. Trees at the beach along with a walkway makes easier for exploring sights. At night, the entire site glows with lights that add a whole new dimension.
