Since Paro International Airport is the sole international airport in Bhutan, visitors planning for Bhutan can opt for a direct or connecting flight to Paro. Visitors flying from India, can book Druk Air or Royal Bhutan Airlines flights from Katra, Delhi, Guwahati (Assam), Gaya (Bihar), and Foreign nationals, can fly directly to Paro from Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu, or Dhaka.

Tourists from SAARC can enter through Phuentsholing (Western Bhutan), Gelephu (Sarpang in Central Bhutan), & Samdrup Jongkhar (Eastern Bhutan). For those, who are planning for a railway journey for Eastern Bhutan, you can opt for entries from either Samdrup Jongkhar or from Gelephu. For an entry from Gelephu, visitors take rail rides to Bongaigaon Town Railway Station in Bongaigaon (Assam). From here at Bongaigaon, one can take 50km or 3 hours’ drive to get within Gelephu, a border city.

For entering eastern portions like Samdrup Jongkhar, one should ride to Rangia Junction at Assam, from here, significant site are explored easily within the Kingdom. If you choose for an exciting trip in spiritual corners, opt Guwahati – Samdrup Jongkhar NH-27, which is 150 km and takes almost 3 hours.

Along this, the rich biodiversity of the eastern region attracts nature and wildlife enthusiasts form different corners of the globe. Also, this is the region that has its own unmatched reputation when it comes to artistry and craftsmanship. Here the locals in Eastern Bhutan are bestowed with unique weaving and embroidery skills; silks from Bhutan are rare.
