Visitors flying from India, can book Druk Air or Royal Bhutan Airlines flights from Delhi, Guwahati (Assam), Kolkata, Gaya (Bihar), and Foreign nationals, can fly directly to Paro from Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu, or Dhaka.
Visitors from India can enter Bhutan through three entry points: Phuentsholing (Western Bhutan), Gelephu (Sarpang in Central Bhutan), and Samdrup Jongkhar (Eastern Bhutan). For those, who are planning for a railway journey for Eastern Bhutan, can opt for entries from either Samdrup Jongkhar or Gelephu Town. For an entry from Gelephu, visitors take train rides to Bongaigaon Town Railway Station in Bongaigaon (Assam). From here at Bongaigaon, one can take a 50km or 1 hours’ drive to get within Gelephu, a border city.
For entering eastern Bhutan through Samdrup Jongkhar, one should book train rides to Rangia, Assam. From here, Eastern Bhutan can be explored. For an exciting road trip for Eastern Bhutan, one should opt for the Guwahati-Samdrup Jongkhar path / NH-27, which is 150 km and takes almost 3 hours.
Along this, the rich biodiversity of the eastern region attracts nature and wildlife enthusiasts form different corners of the globe. Also, this is the region that has its own unmatched reputation when it comes to artistry and craftsmanship. Here the locals in Eastern Bhutan are bestowed with unique weaving and embroidery skills; silks from Bhutan are rare.
